Is there any way that an orp probe can be calibrated or tested to make sure its reading right?

Cheers

hi Craig

The iks comes with calibration fluid and a plug in place of the probe for the calibration process.

Don't know what other makes do but would have thought somthing along the same lines.

Craig,

If you can make (with extreme care and precision) a solution of known ORP (phosphate?) content you have a calibration standard. The reliability of your calibration depends on the accuracy of the standard solution.

or if this is for redox potential I think that you can make standards from a hydroquinone/quinhydrone solution, but the chemicals would probably be be very hard to come by and it needs to be made up fresh every time. Probably best to buy a commercial standard solution at the end of the day....

As Dod says, buy some.

Aquamedic do one: part number 230.24 (REDOX Calibration liquid 230mV) with an SRP of £3.34.

Any Aquamedic stockist should be able to get this in for you.

Just bumping this up as I received an ORP probe the other day. Now as this thread is rather old, does anyone know know if any sponsors stock the above item?

Sponsor Reefdreams sell sachets of 400mv calibration solution made by Pinpoint. Use once to ensure accuracy. After use you can leave the sachet exposed to air for for a few hours and it makes an effective Probe cleaner.
