Hi ben
i have been thinking of useing it to crystal the water a little .
Have been reading that book ultimate marine aquariums (nice book).
The artical in the book is called ,mud and acropora.
Owner of the tank is Sue truett and she uses Carbon in the sump to remove any yellowing or any other deleterious substances that may be coused by the caulerpa algaes she is useing .She does not skimm but her bio load is low and i think in your case ben that it will only help the system.
Im going to use a little carbon just to give the water a little scrub

hi ja , i was thinking aswell as not only getting rid of any yellowing ,although the uv seems to have done that , but also to get rid of any fighting chemicals released by the corals as i have both soft and hard.what do you think.trouble is i have read that it can take away stuff used by the caulerpa to grow and i presume that would apply to chaeto aswell,i dont know.
cheers

Near essential if you don't want yellow water?
Look in Ultimate Reef Aquaria and see if Leng Sy runs it in his own system

You dont need to run it all the time ,just now and then .
The woman who ownes to tank i was onabout in the other post only uses it now and then (and like i said she does not skim( lol hope jerry reads this post lol) .
Question to ben,Are your corals stuggling in anyway ,if not why do you think you might need it ?.

im interested to see if it makes a difference to growth rates.
