thanx for that mate =) one day i mite b an expert too?? lol :D
very nice Nano mate Ive just added my live rock this afternoon
Daza
cheers mate  welcome to d wonderful world of reefkeeping
i jus realised i think my halides r too bright for my camera? so pics come out whitey.. hmmmm
im jus almost there in bringin my SG back up to 1.026 and awaitin delivery of a tap so i can stick the fluval 303 cannister to allow more filteration therefore more stocking density :D
it wil contain only biomax, to allow bacteria to multiply massively.. where the 103 handles carbon and phos removal.
nex step.. to check up on how the kh, ca and mg is doing! as my initial aim was to correct them o and.. my ph is draggin very low.. need to look into that too! :whistling:
Hi dj,
Nice aquascaping - and on the whole a nice tank. Need to address the aiptaisia before they become a problem.
Not sure why you're adding an external and wanting the bacteria to multiply massively. It won't allow you to stock more densely, you'll just end up with high nitrates and then have to address that problem.
Shame about the dendro - in this hobby you really need to read up on what you buy before you buy it rather than get it just 'cause it's pretty. There's some spectacular stuff for sale but you need to get some experience before trying some of the harder species - and you only know it's one of the harder species if you read up before purchasing. The dendro is going to die - not a lot to lol about.
John
how can an external boost nitrates wen its designed to lower em?? :o
No, it's not designed to lower nitrates - externals do not complete denitrification - they convert ammonia to nitrite, nitrite to nitrate and then stop. For complete denitrification you need anaerobic zones - something you find in live rock and sand or mud beds, but certainly not in an external cannister filter. :)
HTH
thanx 4 dat zim.. i guess the LR wil do that den! but stil im gona add the 303 to eliminate totally all ammo n nitrite as they r considered most toxic..
djnav,
I don't think you understand what I'm saying <_< .
The bacteria on live rock converts ammonia to nitrite, the resulting nitrite to nitrate and the resulting nitrate to oxygen and nitrogen. Adding an external will convert the ammonia and resulting nitrite but not the nitrate produced by that process so you will probably get an accumulation of nitrates. Your assumption that the live rock will take care of these excess nitrates produced by the cannister is probably not correct, particularly if you think that adding a cannister means that you can stock more densely.
Good luck with the tank anyway
John
Looking good mate  but like others say i'd start zapping them aiptaisia with some joes juice asap  Looks like there spreading fast in your tank and they won't stop  The longer you leave it the more hastle it will be in the longrun
Ollie
thanx ollie.. wil look into the aiptasia soon.. dey dont really fuss me.. not yet anyway but ye i get ya.. n zim.. i get u totally now lol...
im gona go wiv the flow wiv d cannister n see how it goes.. worse comes to worse.. il remove it
il keep this updated ;)
i wana redo the rocks on the right hand side but duno how to get a good effect with wot i got.. mite try later today or 2mo.. see wot hapns!
redone em :D

hi mate - if its suitable to do so, I'd maybe add a few peppermint shrimps to try to deal with those aips. The real problem is that they will sting other corals.
hi clippo.. i wil be dealin wid the aips soon.. jus been dealin wid other stuff..
e.g. i went n bought Reef crystals salt 4m ma lfs coz the tropic marine was givin me very low PH.. of abt 7.8~7.9.. and i tested the reef crystals freshly mixed.. PH of 8.3  wil b usin this 4 al ma water changes now...
fantastic ey? expensive but worth it.
;)
