Hi all got my hands on a load of this stuff from my new fish only setup. My question is can i stick it together with a hot glue gun ? Milliput wont take to it and its very light so it wont stay where you put it withough a helping hand

Personnaly i would avoid its use to be 100% truthfull about it. It doesnt hold the same properties or qualities that make real Lr such a bonus to modern reefing methods., OK for Fo systems maybe but not so hot for building a mixed reef imo.

That asside, if you are going to use it, im surprised that milliput wont glue it together as this stuff sticks to just about anything. Im swayd away from the hot glue gun idea unless you can get the glue manufacturer to verify without a doubt that the glue once set and cooled, will not release any kind of harmfull chemicals into the system and exposed to salt water. Im hazarding a guess that none of them will certify 100% that they are sure.

Your alternatives after this, are obviously cable ties and a drill, or possibly some of the new reefsafe underawater silicon glue. ( icant testify as the legitamacy of just how safe this stuff is, as ive never used it.

Overall though i would look at what your trying to atchieve. If your planning on running a full mixed reef, i would only consider the use of this material as a minimal topping off. Cirtainly not as the 'bulk' of the reef structure due to its less than capable filtration capabilities. for filtration, you really cant beat good quality real live rock and the diversity it brings to the reef.
