since setting up my nano i have changed tanks three times, the new tank measures 15x12x15 and i hope in the next few months to increase it to a 18 inch cube

i have a 150 MH with 2 actintics on order for it and dont worry that is SPS skeleton in the top left corner!

livestock

FISH - 2 percula clowns (when they are bigger they will move to the FO)

INVERTS- 8 red legged hermits, 5 turbo snails, 5 vibex snails, 3 bumble bee sanils, 1 sand shifting conch, 1 boxer crab, 1 boxing shrimp and 1 porcelain crab

CORALS - lots of rics (orange blue and green), zoanthids (emerald green) various boring polyps, a ricordia yumo, purple mushies. green mushies, couple of singlr frag mushie, kenyan tree coral, coupan xenia,

HARD CORALS- 2 trumpet corals, and a sun coral

the main filteration is done by a eheim 227 wet/dry external skimmer which takes out around 2 litres at a time and then throws it back in via a spray bar (600lph)
so this gives a short wave cycle.

hope you enjoyed it!

Interesting nano. Not familiar with the Eheim wet/dry filters. Does it fill up and then discharge the water in it to give a wave effect with a corresponding rise and fall of the water in the main tank? If so, really good idea!

Are you running it without media?

Looking forward to seeing it progress - and to your new 18" cube too!

Keep us posted.

...and another couple of questions:

What's your temperature like, particularly the swing when the 150W halide comes on?

What's the breeding trap in there for?

Cheers

Yeah well i wanted to run an external in order to get more water volume to begin with and was looking at the fluval one then i managed to get a eheim 227 wet/dry very cheap and thought i ewould give it a ago, i drains about 2/3 litres of tank water into the fliter chamber then empties it out and in effect creates a stop start flow in the tank, the other benefit of using the external is its 600lph turnover which i am finding just right for my softies.

i am running the external with one rack containing LR rubble and the other has carbon, antiphos and wool, with the LR and DSB doing most of the filtration work, and eventually within the next couple of months will not contain any fish to reduce biolad as the clowns will move into the FO when big enough!

with a stable room temp of around 20.1 to 20.7 the tank itself sets the day at around 24.8 then then increases to a maximum of 26.1 i use a clip on fan to reduce heat created by the halide and regularly top up and excess water for the winter it will be fine and dont expect to have to many probs with it, but if it does start to overheat in the summer i will swap thelighting over to PC T5 in a custom hood that i have to help reduce heat!

the breeding trap contains all the mushies frags that i have which i have had go mental and reproduce like crazy so i am in the reattaching phase of there development!

thanx panda

Amazing what some people can do with a limited amount of space

mainly mussle flesh at the mo but it gets a dose of shrimp once a week and i am currenlty dosing the tank with phytoplanton which helps it to open up!
