Hi
On my new tank which is being salted up tommorow, i have an over head sump which i am using for sps corals. In the main tank i plan to have a pair of percula clowns, which i hope to breed. So any tips?
Tank specs
Main tank (around 25 gallons) 32/12/15
10kg live rock
50x flow (poor little guys  )
And a prizm skimmer
I have heard some or other about a plant pot and mirrors, but to be honest thats all i have heard. So whats that all about?
I will be having a nem when i feel the tank can sustain one, and i reackon i'll go with a bubble.
Ok, any more info needed just ask
:thanx:

Think you've just stated the obvious their mate. And shouldn't you always try to simualate natural light cycles and stability, even if you have no intent on breeding?
Any real tips which may help breeding?
like what
viagra for clowns
that all you can do its up to them isnt it rearly

Well no, not really. Theirs that plant pot / mirror thing. They may prefer different salinitys, ph's,flow and alot of other factors come into account.
I think the plant pot/mirror thing (tile) is just for them to lay their eggs on so you can remove it easily?
Apparently there is a good book on breeding clows, its mentioned in pretty much every thread when people mention they have eggs.
Never heard of a plant pot mirror "thing" to encourange spawning.
Firt you need to get a pair going, and depending on how old they are, could take up to a year to start spawning.
During this time you need to keep params stable, and also light cycle.
When they start pre-spawning behaviour, you need then to feed up the fish like mad. I do it with brineshrimp, till the tank is full of them. this stimulates a food bloom. this can be down up to 3 times a day for tricky spawners. (I must add here though, that you must have a system that can handle this waste should they not bother)
After this, slowly increase the temp by a degree or two, and increase light cycle by an hour.
These are all starter "tips" in getting a pair to spawn. You may be lucky and aquaire a proven pair that start spawning with no intervention within a few weeks!
Generally however, it's quite an easy thing to do, but takes time and patience.
mine breed every 8-12 days, nothing special done apart from stability as mentioned and i haven't put my hands 'in' my tank for over a year now.
