Cryptic Zone

Hi

I currently have the black filter box that came with my juwel rekord 90 packed
with various filter sponges but today i thought to myself because its blacked out it
would make a fantastic cryptic zone :idea:

So my question is,What would be more beneficial to my tank keeping the filter
or turning it into a crytic zone?

I still have my skimmer for filteration BTW

been running my juwel filter as a crypt for several months now - benefits include propogation of filter feeding organisms like sponges and tunicates and corresponding knock on effects to water quality... also acts as a haven for micro fauna to repopulate main tank. Steve Tyree is leading authority I believe. Juwel filter certainly seems to work - see natual reefing forum on RP for pics.

no - left it in place. I have polyfilter at the top, then LR sitting on the grid half way up the chamber.
