Hi,
Mine is set at 26C with a 0.2C above this temp for the fan to come on, and a 0.1C below this for the heater to come on.
It has been running like this for about 3 weeks now and is very stable.
I am sure your settings will be fine.
Stability is the most important thing. If your reef is used to a temperature of 27.5C then that is fine. I personally would prefer a little lower temperature.
Regards
PaulH
i have tank set at 26 with .1 varience either way for the heater.
chiller comes on at 26.5.
this gives me a low at night of 25.8 and a daytime of 26.6
I have mine set as
Heater 26.4 -0.1 +0.1 = on when temp too low
Cooling Fan 26.9 -0.1 +0.1 =on when temp too high
MH Lamp 27.9 +0.1 -0.4 =off when temp too high (overrides timer)
Temp alarm <25.0 & >28.0
I had assumed that the Fan would come on at Ref+Max (27.0) and off at Ref-Min (26.8). That would mean that fishandchips' method of setting would oscillate continually with heater alternating with fan.
The manual is unclear, but from experimenting tonight it looks as though the fan comes on at Ref+Max (27.0) and off at Ref (26.9) (- I set a wider Min-Max than this for the experiment). If this is the case, then fishandchips' setup would mean that the heater came on at 27.2 and off at 27.5, and the fan came on at 28.0 and off at 27.5.
Is this correct?

that is correct tony
that's why i gave a wider margin between the max. and ref s that they don't keep coming on and off
im going to lower the ref to 26.5
how do you programme the lights to turn off when the temp is at 27.9?
:thanx:

thanks Pete
I think I will still use 2 separate temperature programs, but modify the levels slightly now that I understand how it works.

I added an extra program to the Temperature page and programmed the socket that the lights are on to turn OFF when the temperature is ABOVE 28.0.
This overrides the timer ON period. I have tested by heating the sensor with my hand and it works.
The only thing to watch is that the lamp needs to be off for several minutes before it is turned on again - so set a wide hysteresis.
Hmm.. need to change mine now that you have confirmed the hysteresis switching levels.
