Hi Panel

I suppose this is mainly aimed towards Mr Garratt, but who am I to stop others helping... :)

Like many others I'm utilising your flow separator sump design for my new system (Thanks for that, great design! :D ), but the skimmer I'm using has a larger throughput - 2300ltrs an hour.
Given that my sump is the same(ish) dimensions as yours, would I be well advised to tee off the skimmer return as I have done with the main tank return?
Or would I be able to get away with that extra flow going into the DSB? Maybe a top layer of rubble...

Cheers

Id say suck it and see. as long as you can disperse the flow so that it doesnt damage the DSB's surface then i see no real problem. if anything it may actually aid the DSB by putting more 02 into the area. Possibly the only thing to watch out for beyond that, is that your not flowing so much water through the area that waste isnt being allowed to settle out properly (which is the whole point of the DSB in the first place).

Based on observations at 800+lph though, i cant see you having any real issues to be honest.

Si.

Thanks Si

When it all actually gets plumbed in, maybe I'll post my observations...

how did you find running the high return through the DSB???

Will be very interested to hear as i am considering the same.
