I woundered what peoples opinions are on this and whether in fact it is worth using?

For the last few days ive had a huge batch of filter wool in my external to clear up my ultiphos mistake, I really like the sparkling effect its given the water, looks cleaner than ever but I dotn know whether there is a way to use some sort of mechanical filtration to polish the water without creating nitrates?

edit- oops sorry for the typo in the title, can a mod please correct, many thanks

i guess regular replacement of floss or either that or remove it now and then monitor things and then if you feel there's a lot of 'bits' in the water you can then decide if you want to add the floss back again. i'd try to avoid it ongoing if you can, as it's a bit high-maintenance.....

Are you running carbon? If not you might try this as it has a strong ability to clarify water and remove toxins and organic dyes.
