Hi guys
A quick question 4 u guys, if i buy reef bones and put them in a system 4 say a year, does it become live rock;) .
How much should i be paying 4 it,and does anyone know of any good online shops 4 it;)
If this is what i think its a much cheaper way of doing things isn't it:D
appreciate any views thanks

it'll become live in a few months if you have good live rock to seed it and i think aquarist.net is the cheapest place its in germany but the postage is cheap and they are very good

It will become live, as reef bones are dead live rock (just left to dry out) If that makes sense.
A much better choice than the cheap less porous rocks peopl buy as base rock and things IMO.
I have also got them from aquarist.net before and its a great service and great quality/shaped rock.
If you put it in your system though you will get a spike from all the dead stuff still inside. It either needs curing or add it slowly piece by piece over a period of time.

Hi Jon,
I'm setting up a marine tank and bought some bones from Martin Lakin, he's a really nice guy and the rocks are great, if you check the classified section-livestock or do a search for reef bones you should find the thread, there are also some photos there so you can see what they are like.
I've bought some live rock to seed my tank and just seeing how it goes.

:) hi,
aquaristic.net is the place i used nd fantastic to deal with.
i ordered 28kg nd inc del was 96pound iirc, which took 3-5 days del nd the rock shapes are good. put it in tank then put 50kg l/r on top nd left for 2wk whilst cycled nd away i went, everything is spot on.
hth les :)
i'll second martins (aropora) rock, like mentioned he's a terrific guy and worth getting some just to see his tank, it's mind blowing. don't know how much he has left but well worth giving him a call.
