Has anyone tried to raise fry from these guys? I have them breeding in my tank but the eggs look tiny compared to clownfish eggs so i guess there may be a problem finding a food small enough for them?

I have heard stories about these surviving in the tank. I cant remember where I heard (or maybe read) but it was a few years ago when mine were spawning regularly. If the tales were true then you should have a good chance of raising the fry

sounds interesting. mine have been spawing for about 2years but stopped about 6months ago. Never found any fry but I have a fairly busy tank with a lot of flow so maybe not much chance of survival. They've just started up again and lay approx every 14 days. i'd like to have a go at raising them soon.

I have just setup a little project in my shed for breeding clownfish and have a breeding pair of Clarkii's with eggs in there at the moment. if all goes well with these guys I think I might try harvesting the goby eggs/fry too.

I've got a laying pair, I read over on reefcentral ( I think the breeding forum) of a few folk who managed to raise the fry.

Sadly they don't last long in my mixed reef!

Good luck with it, if you do decide to give raising the fry a go it would be great to post a thread on it.

A pm to Clayton -reefworks may give you some pointers on feeding them e.t.c.

I'd guess you need to remove the eggs into a fry tank with no pumps or filters and just run an airstone for motion.

Hi - These might help:

If you find a source for small-strain rotifers, let us know - I've got Pink Bar(Aurora)Gobies spawning and I'm going to try a batch after my hols.

Found Nemo, what now?

Ours get to the same stage as yours in the pic, there's nowhere safe for the eggs away from predators, behind the spraybar seems to have been best so far.

Have you tried collecting them into a floating breeder?

They have been raised on S-strain rotifiers (Just a smaller rotifier) as a first food. I am not really sure how available these are in the U.K.
Somewhere to start though i suppose.

Good luck.

Mine used to spawn behind a spraybar but have now taken to laying the eggs on a soft coral branch which makes it a bit difficult to remove them :(

I'm going to concentrate on the pair of clarks clowns I have in my shed tanks for the time being and then see what I can do with these guys in a couple of months :)
