View Full Version : Baby Euphyllia?
http://www.ultimatereef.net/uploader/2006Q1/DSCN3302.JPG
Theres about 5 or 6 of these tiny 3mm polyps around the base of my euphyllia. I presume the main colony is budding these off to reproduce its just they dont seem to move or grow. Any thoughts?
Im concidering cutting these off with a little piece of substrate still attached, then mount these and trying and grow them out. Does anyone have any comments or tip on how best to do this?

They look neat mate.Probably not growing out due to lack of light down there.Maybe cut the hammer head stalk shorter with a clean hacksaw whilst in a bowl of tank water and milliput it down again. Then chop up the piece with the buds on it and milliput the frags in direct light.Or just let the base branch.
They look super little uns lol.
Thought the light thing might be an issue down there although i would have expected them to have floated off for a better position by now.
Im gona have a got at removing a couple this weekend. If they survive i might have a play around with the remaining ones. Wander if the polyps are more adaptable while small?
hermie, keep us posted on how you get on, i've got these as well, may give it a try if you manage ok
i did this with my frogspawn not that long ago . i basically cut them off with a dremil type tool . then smashed up some ocean rock and super glued them on. i accidentally split one of them while holding with longnose pliers but i glued it on anyway . surprized me by turning into two already.http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g294/hydno/STA70675.jpg
i also cut all the heads off this hammer to allow the buds to grow. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g294/hydno/STA70692.jpg
