Not 100% sure what has happened tonight, luckily not a flood!

I changed my top up peri pump for the smallest ehiem compact tonight as the peri wasn't quite enough..... changed the timing of the program from 600secs to just 15secs

Just checked the sump to find 6ltrs of topup water have been added! Luckily not enough for a flood or to alter my salanity... on checking the float switch its not jammed & the program errors & shuts the pump off after 15 secs (hold the switch out of water) So I can't understand why its done this unless a stomatella snail has pushed the float a few times??

What I was thinking is if I buy another float switch, but use this as a max point would this override the other float switch, thus stopping a flood?? Also have any of you come up with a better guard than the one that comes with the float switch, or even modded that one???

Cheers Shelton.

Another "safety" float switch to kill the power seems the best option - this is the method of choice for the Tunze Osmolator.

You don't need a Redox Interface for your Aquatronic perchance ? I've a new one and USB cable spare.........

Why is the peri-pump not enough? I have a 32 ml/min peri-pump and that can provide 32 x 60 x 24 / 1000 = 46 lt per day which should be far more than your tank needs.

The peri-pump is self-priming which simplifies things. I have a timeout set to 20 min, so even if the float does stick (which as far as I know it never has) the maximum amount of water added at a time is 640 ml (1 pint), then my Aquamaster auto-topup stops and alarms. This has only ever happened when I ran out of RO water in the reservoir!

LTD.... Not at this time thanks! :)

Tony... I have a small system & the return section of the sump is small, in this hot weather its not keeping up with the evap :( So I went to the ehiem compact @ 150ltr p/h & like you say as its not self priming it takes 6secs to start pumping....

But does anybody know whether putting another float switch up high as a max mark can be used to overide ALL other programs on the sump (topup + kalk stirrer)

Cheers Shelton.
