hi all

i have an opportunity to add some extra water capacity to my perc 90,

i have a stand with a 30 gallon tank, the stand is higher than my perc and therefore will allow me to gravity feed back to the main tank.

although this would only take me upto 80 gallons my dad has an aquamedic 5000 baby i could scrounge and was thinking of adding this in the hope i will be able to stock more heavily would this be a problem and is there such a thing as over skimming, as this skimmer is currently on a 500 gallon system.

also if i were to do this is there anything else i would need to add to enable me to stock more in my tank?

tbh, the skimmer you mention is ok but (IMO) no skimmer will allow you to over stock, maybe add another fish, but that's as far as I'd go.

Further more, why would you want to over stock? The only thing this will do is spoil your water with more DOC and stress the fish because they'll feel packed in.

IMO, you can not over-skim. My advice would be to keep your stock levels low and enjoy the better water conditions that this will produce.

What skimmer are you using now?

Hi
This would be a really nice skimmer to have on the tank as it wuill pull out all sorts of gunk.

I slightly disagree with tony in only so much as you could stock heavier on the fish if you selected a specific species say a shoal of anthias although a perc 90 is a bit tight.

i diss agree its still a small space therefore the fish can still get easily stressed the only pluss of adding it wud be more stable water qual.
