View Full Version : Yet another nano/small tank
In the process of construction a custom nano.
It's been a while due to no access to my workshop but I've finally managed to put together the parts, it's now in place & full of salt water!!
What my plan is.

Interesting tank build. I'd like to see how it pans out.
BTW, you sig is a joke, right? I'd love to see you convince a court that using a shuriken came under 'reasonable force'!

Nice project! Any stocking plans yet?

A bit of thought and work gone into that!!
I like the way you have hidden all the equipment behind the false back.
Watching your progress with interest!

very interesting, what the tank specs?
looks to be a nice and compact nano!

The tank is a 24"x15"x15", around 20gal which is about the limit for a nano. Stocking I'm thinking a pair of clowns with a goby style fish to go with it. I'd like a blenny but I don't think their would be enough pod life to support it correctly.
Currently finishing off the trim & them gonna build an elevated hood with 4 x t5 units. Then just a matter of putting in final place & filleing & stocking. Will take some more pics as I go along.
Looking good so far!! :) :)

Finally have some life in it (If you can call live rock life)
Lighting looks a bit strange as it's a daylight bulb spotlight due to the fact I haven't finished the t5canopy yet!!

Bit of an update, tanks cleared and 3 hermits added.
Have also added a eheim ecco external filter running filter wool, carbon & rowa. Mooded the outlet to increase surface agitaion too.

Due to a change in living space (got rid of my pool table due to lack of room) in my office/dining room. I am now changing the whole of the design above to something like this.
What do you reckon. Excuse my dodgy plumbing drawings though.
Main tank still 25x15x15. Sump tank 24x12x12. Overhead fuge 20x8x8
Still toying with the idea of swapping the fuge & sump around though and having the smaller one as the sump???? Do you reckon it could cope with the overflow of the 2 above??
Biostar skimmer in sump.
Newjet 3000 & scwd on closed loop for circulation.
Got all bits, still undecided big tank top or bottom??? Need to decide to build stand:)
