View Full Version : SPS - what you got?
Hi All,
Just incase some of you might have missed my introduction, I am in the process of building a SPS and clam dominated tank.
I will be lookin at stocking it from Next month, and would therefore love to create my own/UR database of what SPS corals each person is keeping.
I would also like to know who is currently/willing to frag there sps corals, and if you have in the past, what price, willing to post.
And obviously as some of the members including myself do not know all the names of the species include a photo
Thanks I hope to get a good response to this request as it will give us all the opportunity to be able to share and exchange a bit better - Opinions.
Regards
Knott

Could be good but tbh its going to take a hell of a lot of time for people with the densely stocked tanks to do, could be worth just naming them and giving the info you requested, like if theyre up for swaps :)
Could even be worth stickying if it works :)

Yea would be nice to see some of the rare and nice coloured SPS corals that people have.
Hi guys,
Thanks for the thoughts but I/we need to know what you got even if it is common we need to start of at least, gav, Tony and Dan I am sure you can start the ball rolling

No they're not, you have all the ones coming into the UK apparently :D
Great idea!
Dave
After the 26-Aug-06 I will try to take some more pics, (holiday/seeing family in Ireland).
I'm not at a suitable stage to start sending out loads of frags as my SPS development is not as advanced as I'd like. I've only got two Acros that are frag-able, the rest are new-ish frags and there ain't much size on them yet.
Mostly Acro at the moment, some soft stuff as well.

I think the septics call it a Purple Haze:o
So has no one got any SPS or is no one is willing to share info on whatthey got
So has no one got any SPS or is no one is willing to share info on whatthey got
I will be, but it's going to take some time to take photos etc., I think you need to be patient. ;) The problem is how big this thread going to get, I must have 20 odd frags/colonies in my tank.

Montipora confusua, this hasnt photo'd well. The skeleton is a flouresent neon green and the tips and the polyps go from brown through green to almost yellow on the plating portion (though not as drastic looking as it sounds only slightly off brown.)

cheers Simon,
im not to sure on what lighting to use, ive got the same lighting as simon (sps hoover), but i think my unit is a bit longer, was thinking of adding another bulb to the unit, so i will have 10k at each end and a 20k in the middle, with to arcadia actinic t5, what do you think,

yep, recently read a couple of books stating tubinaria are actually SPS.
apparently experts in corals dont like to class corals into lps or sps categories as its too broad and not always clearcut.
i forget the correct terminology used, if it wasnt late and i wasnt tired id get my books out!

I admit I have a few frags, but I am working on the principle that by the time they grow up:-
a) not all will survive
b) there will be some that don't like.

b) I like them all
