Snakelocks are native to British shores, not suitable for tropical marine tanks.

Why's that? I've seen them in tropical marine tanks.
They seem to flourish, in the tanks I've seen them in anyway.

My thinking is the large temperature difference between tropical and British waters. How long did they flourish for in a tropical system?

they are use to colder temperatures. Not ideal for our aquariums, they can survive but its not there ideal habitat.

All marine animals come from someones shore!

No i don't think so, unless he is unless he is deliberately mis-describing them, Snakelocks aren't on our red data list

IMHE they do OK in tropical tanks (although I'd advise against this.) They seem to be able to cope with a large temperature range (probably as rock pools get quite hot in summer). But if they are like most temperate marine species they will need cool winters and short day length to behave and live normal lives.

I understand that native anemones such as beadlets can survive up to 28 degrees, and as low as 2 degrees.

I also bought some snails of the bloke on ebay and they also all died. More worrying is that I saw on his feedback later that one buyer thought they were dog whelks, which are carnivorous and feed on other snails. So potentially if they do survive they could finish off all your other molluscs................

he says that on his ebay adverts though

The snails he has on ebay at the moment aren't dog whelks
