best media for sumps

fairly new to sumps looking to no whats best to put into it ... media , bioballs, dsb ect
at the moment im running a dsb 4inch in ref with cheato and i have bio balls in it with some eheim media ... also some live rock

You could replace the bio balls with live rock rubble

But do this slowly Ie take some balls out and replace what you take out with a bit of rubble, do this over a few months as not to upset the stability of your tank

Adding live rock to the sump has the advantage of there being no predators so pods and other useful critters can multiply.
