Anybody on here have the bulk of their LR for filtration in the sump area, leaving the display with more swimming space. if you do could you describe your setup and maybe even a few pics.

toying with some ideas at the moment

Not done it myself but I know this is how some frag setups run to get more free space in the frag tanks :) Will see if I can find some pics...

Have a look at jacksok's tank - I think he's done this:

i'm about to do this.

only thing i am worried about is the uni-directional flow through a sump versus the random flow in a display.

i am going to use my display return and skimmer return to create a lot of flow around the rock to compensate this - and of course you can use reef racks a plenty to ensure ample space around the rock (something you cant do in a display)

tiggsy , for the section i'm thinking for the LR i would be putting powerheads in there to up the flow

makes sense - i was going to see if i could pick up a cheap tunze stream to add if i need it.

be interesting though.....LR stacked "reef" style in a display with high flow V LR stacked well on racks with ample room for water to flow but with less overall flow - which is best?
