Hi all
Last week i purchased what i believe to be an Echinophyllia although theres a slim chance it could be a Echinopora.Although it has quite an irregular set coralites its quite a nice colour and interesting. Anywho i noticed that there has been some drooping flesh present on the coral and it seems that it may well be trying to droop down and settle on another part of the substrate to re grow.
Anyone else witnessed this with a large polyp coral?
Heres before and after pics.

Tony , how close is that gorgonia ( i think ) it reminds me of a part of deep blue ( i think ) when it showed a coral exposing its stomach to eat the coral next to it

Hi mate
Couple of inches infront i suppose,no direct contact although you could be right. The gorgonia needs a bit of a prune in that direction anyhow lol.

Looks to me that it might be reproducing.

In the last pic it looks like the flesh has some of the skelinton detached as well??? As long as it hasnt happened from being knocked i would have thought it indicates that its done it to its self delibrately.

I also seem to remember reading something about placing any detached flesh onto a patch of coralin algae to help it attach to substrate as opposed to bare rock or glass.....but i may be totaly wrong. :o

Bit vague realy but ive seen something similar on the net and from what i remember it was good. Bloody memory loss........What we talkin about?

Surely someone else here has seen this happen before???

The flesh has dropped onto the rock below, hopefully it will settle.Looking at it part of the skeleton has gone with it.
Ill see how things turn out.
