Hi,

Aquaculture supplies are on the web and they can supply phyto and rotifer starter kits. I think they are based in Truro.

Good luck.

Not really anything to see!
People think there is a big secret surounding breeding but my phyto/rots/brineshrimp 'stations' are a row of plastic bottles! As most are. Just be carefull that the rots and BS cant contaminate your phyto cultures.
If you arent needing large amounts straight away, im sure someone in your area will give you a small culture. You only need a cup full and start feeding them, they will soon take off.

Couple of links for you, Phyto is easy to get, Rotifers a little harder, but it's out there.

Lets go then -

I currently use phyto feed similar to the one in Shultz's link, only I feed at 3ml per 2ltr of culture (3x recommended).

I notice from the your link the guy uses 5ml of Miracle grow and gets a very dark culture, have you used this yourself, is this safe, i.e is the result uncontaminated and suitable with no side effects.

I expect there are hundred of discussions on various forums about this, of which I have read none, is there a simple answer you can advise to the is it safe, does it work, without me having to trawl through them all :)

I have never seen any adverse effects, but, you can be sure that some people will say that it is bad, but they tend to say this without knowing the make up of any commercial products so it means absolutely nothing to me. Check this link, and scroll down to the update.

I have no idea regarding miracle grow but melevs methods in the link below uses tap water. Is this normal?

I would have thought this would be a surefire way of introducing contaminanced if you were to add the resulting phyto into your tank.
