Hi Folks.

Just heard down the grapevine about this little number. The new MCE300, apparently due out in October.

Similar to the other Deltec hang ons but rated between 200-300lts capacity. so pretty ideal for smaller beginer systems imo. or if your inclined for larger nano's.

heres some info on it for those interested.

It looks really good for small tanks although I must say that If I had a 250 litre tank, Id want the mce600 definately

yep spose it depends on what your after. baring in mind that the skimmer would probably be worth more than the tank if you were to go a size up (this ones SRP is £150). Like i said though, i recon its pretty cool for a begginer system with (what should be) light stocking up to about 300ltr mark. if the price will get newbies away from those poxy Sander air driven jobbies and give them a taste of what a real skimmer can do right from the start., then all the better imo.

i used to use a mc500 on 75gals with good sps colouartion and fairly heavily stocked.
looks another piece of good quality kit to me if the 500 was anything to go by!

Why is a small tank a beginner system...is id suited to a smaller tank is all... i am sure there are some noobs who jump staight into a 5x2x2 this skimmer would not suffice

And there was me thinking academics were tought to read the 'whole' text before making a judgement...;)

PS. Fishy, the skimmer would hold more than your tank....:D

The best thing about these skimmers, MCE600 and now this MCE300, that'll get my vote everytime is that, unlike most other HOB skimmers, the pump is built into the skimmer and works on a syphon so you don't have to find a spot for another bit of unsightly equipment in your tank.

The only trouble being that degassing plate, doesn't seem to work right at removiong microbubbles.

good point there Zeus. maybe they should try an outflow box similar to the tf1000 hangon. ?

I was wondering. Do you think this would be a suitable upgrade for my current biowheel/skimmer that is standard on the Chromis tanks?
Or should I just leave it alone?

it looks nice but seems way over priced at £150. It needs to be priced closer to something like the tunze nano at around £100 imo, surely it's market area?
I think i'd rather stump £40 more for an MCE600 & have a better skimmer + future upgradeability.

I don't mean to knock it though, I like seeing new products.

I was told it was aimed at the Prism market place.
