As posted in another thread recently, I have converted my tropical tank to a marine, to give me a taster before I jump into the deep end and get a big twin weir tank ... anyway ...

My current hood sits on top of the glass lips inside the tank, but I dont have any more gaps to run pipework into the tank and was wondering what type of hoods you guys use to house your lights ?

Thanks

depends on the set up and the stock. most these days don't have hoods on their tanks. allows for much bigger lighting rigs, allows for faster more efficient cooling and due to the open top, better gaseous exchange which holds ph better.

those that do want hoods as light sheilds either diy them themselves to maek them bigger or make a kind of pelmet so fresh air and heat can pass but the tank has the appearance of a top.
