Hi all,

This is about FW but I need a wee bit of help. I have just noticed that my Pearl Danio is very, very poorly. He is an old fish, I have had him for 4 years, his spine is curved but he's been okay and feeding well. But now today I notice what looks like his intestines pushing out through his skin, so now it come to the time I most hate about keeping animals, time to put him to sleep.

So can anyone tell me the easiest, least painful, least stressful way to send the wee guy on his journey?

Cheers,
Campbell

Concussion

hit it firmly on the head with sufficient force to render him unconscious and instantaniously destroy the brain

There is a recent post in reefs recently that goes into euthanasia in some detail (bit heated, as always, with this issue but IMHO only two ways to go: over dose of anaesthetic or concussion)

Thanks Wombat, Is that the thread started by Major Stare, if so I am reading it now.

Trouble with concussion is he too wee, only about 1.5inches long, so chapping him on the head is a problem.

without being too gruesome, and only if striking is difficult, in a plastic bag and against a wall is possibly your closest option :(

Scoobs method of concussion is very effective

Thanks guys.

It is done. :(

Thankfully it only took one hit.

All that's left to say is: Good journey little one.
