Hi Steve,

Not answering your question directly as I have no experience of the Pin Point monitors/controllers - however, the IKS and Aquatronica are a much more complex but ultimately more sophisticated solution. With one of these you can control pretty much every system on your tank. If you buy a pH controller or ORP controller that's all it will do - just that one job.

Many people prefer having seperate controllers for different tasks - the argument against tank computers being that if it breaks down, everything stops working. Having said that, there are an awful lot of very satisfied Aquatronica, IKS, etc. owners too!

Steve i agree with Ian.

At the start I had a few pinpoint monitors, I sold these off and upgraded to an Aquatronica and never looked back.

Great bit of kit, everything on my tank is run through the unit.

hi
thanx for the replies not sure as i want to go down the route of controlling everything by computer but just simple monitoring of tank parameters so less time with test kits but more time on other tasks

Hi,

Aquatronica are brining out a monitor that will take any two of their probes at a time, take a reading and turn it of or leave it on and read as a graph if you want.

When you want a different parameter, simply plug a differnet interface and probe in.

When new probes come out, update it via the PC interface, so its future proof like the main controller.

release date is in the next few weeks.

Hi,

The unit is £119.99, interfaces are £51.99 and the probes range form £19.99 to £129.99, so dearer to start with, but cheaper long term if testing more than one parameter.

Also the probes are all designed for constant immersion, many monitors are for dip and read only.
