I am all for natural ways to minimise algae growth and detritus accumilation, but does this fish really eat detritus aswell as algae? I have alot of live rock in my tank with tiny grey hairy like bits attached, its not detritus because it doesnt gow anywhere if I aim my powerhead at it.. so is it a form of algae?

I was thinking of getting one of these fish in order to scrub up my rock and add character to my tank.. is this a good move do u think?

aslong as it wont provide direct competition for food with my mandarin I think il go for it..

what do u think?

My lawnmower blenny never ate detritus off the rockwork but did like to leave kiss marks on the glass. He won't compete with the mandarin foodwise but may have a go cause they have fairly similar rock sitting habits - they are fairly aggressive as far as blennies go, which I suppose is not that much really. This fish may not work the way you would like but I would strongly recommend one for character alone. Just make sure it is feeding on flake or suchlike in the lfs before you buy ;)
