Have got most of my equipment away from aquarium but want to be able to read control where aquarium is - approx 8 metres away - any ideas where to get a longer connector cable to connect computer and plug bar or is it possible to extend the cable that comes with it ? if so what type of cable / connectors do i need

Hi

I think I have read some where that you will need a power supply for the main unit. Might be wrong though

Speak to Danny or Marc at Watford they have their display in the shop and all the probes out the back.

Alternatively PM Wavey (Ian).

It certainly can be done.

No problem, I bought a 10 meter USB cable from Maplins for about 9 quid works fine.

peterp - it's not a usb cable that connects the controller to the plugbar.

Hi,

I have asked Italy if its possible to have a longer cable made, as soon as I have an answer will let you know.

How many people would be intersted in just a remote screen?

A remote screen would have been nice, but my unit is now positioned at the front anyway, so feel that is sufficent, still it depends on size and what it could display I suppose.

Can I ask a Q.

One plug bar will take 2 temp or level controllers, if I add a second plug bar does that mean I can then use 4 or do I have to add interfaces?

Craig - each plugbar will support two temperature or level sensors without interfaces. So yes, you'd have four to play with!

Its a hot bit of kit!!!!!.....Trouble is I now want EVERYTHING, well except the sms thingy, I spend to much time on my mobile due to work last thing I need is my tank texting me as well.!!!

I know its not.

Simon

I read that as.
How do I get a longer cable to connect my computer to plug bar as you do not connect computer to to controller directly but via the plug bar.

Hence my answer 10m USB lead

i could just use a long usb cable but would mean buying another plug bar one to go upstairs where my tanks is and the other to be sited in the cellar where most of my filtration / sump equipemnt is located
was hoping to just use one plugbar in cellar and then have a long cable connecting plugbar to display unit upstairs

That's what I thought you meant. I guess Ian (wavey) will find out if it's possible.

they are just wires...i extended most of mine myself with wire and a solidering iorn.

if i go aquatronica on new tank the pc will be miles from the tank, i'll just extend the wire again, easy (although i may favour a seperates set up this time)
