where ya ordered urs from ? :P
ye been waiting on mine ages and they keep promising it will be here soon!
Anyhow ordered most of my gear for mine today so should all be ready when it arrives!
Let me know how u get on would also be nice to do progress of our 3 while we move along as i am adduming we are all getting one?
local lfs is charging the same as online£184.99,but be aware some online stores are charging £194.99 for them, one of the sponsers is charging that
yes i am just wondering if i should get the viper mh or just wait abit?did you order a hydor flo aswell JACK??
what is your rationale for buying the viper MH???
if you are to do that, why not just buy the chinese shell "the tank" for half the price for what you have been quoted.
at the end of the day, it is only the fact jbj installed their lighting that makes them any different.
im just wondering if i should get 1 thats all
you have done copious amounts of research regarding the fuge set up, may be worth going back on the site and seeing what s-hite reviews these lights get-
will have a read up on them
Your Thoughts please
How does this compare to the new DD Nano-Cube
130 litres inc filter system
608mm long x 500mm wide x 612 mm tall
motor driven protein skimmer
real reef lighting - 10,000k, actinic, and LED moonlight with integrated light timer etc
how much these will be?
www.red-sea-max.co.uk
I would probably go with thr red sea to be honest
What is the Hydor flow?
Looking at getting mine form charterhouse aquatics becasue lfs is trying to rip me off now changing price from £200 to £290!!
where can you get them for £185?
Cheers mate
charterhouse is charging £194.99 try maidenhead aquatics they are selling them for £184 hydor flo is a nozzle that fits on the end of the powerhead where it is in the tank and it rotates round for better water movement ive read alot about them on other nano sites and the yanks that have the tank wot we are getting swear by them
gerald the tank is basicaly the same just has a skimmer on it which you dont you dont realy need if you do water changes every week or two weeks,i might buy it just to compare it to the nano cube dx and tell people which is best
it is only a surface skimmer not a protein skimmer mate but i just rang my LFS and ranted at them trying to stitch me and tehya re doing it for £190 now so i am happy again :D
Also where can i get the hydorflow mate sounds good. What i am going to do is get the Maxijet 1200 and whack that in the place of the original and put the original in slot 1 to help flow through the back. But that hydorflow sounds good because i was going to but a y bend...
Not going for the K2-viper... reviews are poor and it is basically a security light on a clamp so i will build my own and put my choice of bulbs in etc.. However i have seen a guy on nano-feer.com called shaolin with a special 70w light added to his hood but i dont want the heat as it may require a chiller then i would rather just get a pendant and clamp it like a viper with fans running horizontal to it so they can keep the heat away. Also will invest in auto top up as evaporation is high on MH's on these nano's... But all in due time all in due time. Got all my equipment coming on Thursday so should be a-ok to setup on sat/sunday but we will see not going to rush it all about the planning. Also not too sure wher to get my LR from? Is the Fiji stuff that good? or is my LFS ok to get it from?
Also if you wanted help building a MH light i am fairly handy with those sort of things and i dont mind helping out a fellow reefer!
Cheers mate,
Looking forward to your progress thread!
so are you saying you are going to now buy 2 tanks, and review them for the uk public to aid them in their decision which tank they want- prob a bit late to make it on the queens birthday list this year- maybe 2008. obe for services to the aquatic public :-)
so how you going to compare the two- will you measure doc's between the two tanks???
i'd prob plug for red sea also- its bigger, its has a skimmer, looks to tick all boxes.
each to their own in this game and i respect what you say but i want to try and master the nano cube which everyone says is ****
Anyway you can tehn base your investment on us two... If we report it is **** then you know for sure but i am sure it will be fine!
you get a surface skimmer with the nano dx it just places on the inlet, the suction keeps it inplace, acropora sell l/r at £8 a kilo full cured so i would say there, where have you ordered your stuff from they might sell the hydor flo there?
aquatics online i got most of my equipment form but still need a maxijet 1200.. just found out from my LFS that it was a price including stand so i am now getting them to bring it down from £300 to £260. Which i can live with to be honest saves the hassle of posting etc i can collect while i am at work!
But where have you seen the hydorflows. My lfs will also do me £8 a kg so may as well use theirs too! Anyway should have this up and cycling in the nect week or so! Oooh exciting stuff then all i have to consder is stocking it!
Any idea what you are putting in yours?
yes mate a pair of firefish,a jawfish as they are my fav,and prob a pistol+goby will send a link for hydor

IIRC i saw a price on one of the German sites in euro's and i think it converted to about £500, but don't quote me.
I know that Andrew at UDA put in an order for a few of them and is expecting them to be over here around Christmas time.
This is what Andrew told me when i asked about the price,
Could you give me any idea how much these will cost?, even if it is just a case of saying less than £300 or more than £300 etc.
I honestly have no idea, but I can't see it being under £300. At the end of the day it's an Aquamedic Chromis sized tank and they sell for £595.
Personaly, i have decided to design my own, the problem with all in one tanks is that they never seem to cover all the bases so to speak and people usualy end up spending more money upgrading them, just my opinion,
cheers.
Anyone any news how much the aqua medic's will cost? Obviously less than the chromis (and this has MH lights), or when they are avaliable?
mine arrived so look out for a post in the members tanks section for a progress of what i get up to with the tank! Exciting news eh! Will shove up some pics of what it looks like this evening!
Cheers all let em knwo how you get one with yours!
And any questions just ask
Yes I have seen one at Interfish in Leeds and to be honest not very impressed!
What I can say is the lights are V.Good for the size of the takn but in general I dont like the design especially the hood!
Assemble your own!

I was talking to the owner of my local LFS last night and he told me he has ordered a few of the Red Sea Max nano's. He is really impressed with the quality (8mm glass, 30g, protein skimmer, full length lights, seperate timers, only one plug for everything etc).
The big whammy is the price, he reckons they are gonna be retailing at 650+ :(
