I know new world had them when they were sponsors. I remember a few members buying them also. So there are definately a few people on here.

You need seriously deep pockets though :)

Yup!,
We've got a couple of friends just up the road who have the 250watt single computer controlled one that you can even punch the latitude and longitude that you want to simulate into it and - Hey presto!! you have the simulated amount of daylight hours, etc, etc, zzzzzzzzzzz! You get the picture anyway. Beautiful lights. Frighteningly expensive. Beyond most people's budgets. (I'm just jealous really Chris if you're reading this!)

Thanx for that Bob, are they UR/ScotReef members? Also where did they order from?

To be honest, I don't understand the attraction (well, at the price).

I believe that they are dimmable (is that really important ?), you can programme in latitude (longitude, who cares unless you want to run a reef on Papua New Guinea time....?) but around the tropics that scarcely affects things. 12 hour days, 12 hour nights.

Sorry, just fail to get it !

Tend to agree with Kim to be honest. If your going to go all out and shell out some serious dosh. Buy yourself a curved light mover so that you can simulate real sunrise sunset across your reef......:D

Fair comments, it was the units without the electronics I was interested in, the new infinity units are like a cross between lumenarcs & giesemann.

Just thought I would post my two-peneth!

I had a twin 250w sfiligoi running for approx 6 months and all I can say is what a load of rubbish. The expense is in the ACLS computer which is noisy so cant ideally be postioned in the room alongside the tank. The light unit itself looks good but on closer inspection you will find the unit is constructed form very lightweight aluminium and actually flexes in the middle, so that when you look directly at the unit, it droops in the middle. The fan in the end of the light unit is noisy aswell.

However the most annoying thing is that if you read the literature it sounds fantastic. In practice it is a completly different thing:

1) yes you can programme the Lat and Long - fine except the ACLS then decides as to when the lights will come on and off, not you.
2) With the twin units you can not dim the lights to 0% only to approx 50%.
3) The actinic lights go off before the main halides so that when the halides switch off the tank immediately goes into complete darkness.
4) The dimming feature puts great strain on the bulbs and you will find within a week the bulbs only dim to about 75% before switching off. When I approached Sfiligoi on this matter they explained that to maintain the maximum sunset, the bulbs will need to be replaced ever month!!!! If you read the literature, the bulbs are supposed to last longer as they are not used so much.
5) RUBBISH RUBBISH RUBBISH
6) I have just sent mine back and replaced with 2 single 400w Geismanns.

Yes Manta they are members of UR and Scottish Reefers. I think the only meet that they have been to was at North Queensferry last Chrimbo with my better half. I couldn't honestly tell you their user name or exactly where they were ordered through (I suspect directly from Italy),, but I can get them to cantact you with details if you want.

I dropped them a line and they'll be in contact shortly (if they're not feeling shy!). Hope this helps a bit.

Yes I have a 250 single with the ACLS, I have read the comments from Quigs and Kim and they have some good arguments against getting them but I like them. I don’t find the ACLS noisy and its right next to the tank, the fan is noisy but along with the skimmer, TV, 7 year and the 3 year old it is but a whisper. ;)
I have had the lights since December 05 and I am just now thinking about changing the lamps for new. I got the lights from an ex-sponsor of UR. I am considering building a bigger tank and will probably get Sfiligoi lighting again but a bigger set.:D

Thanks a lot Chris, bloke on RC loves them - his tank contents are incredible looking too, mind you he's running 1000 watts in total!
