Hi i am setting up a 4x2x2 tank i have one 4x54w t5 unit which i think will do me for a start until i get a little bit more experience but i could quite easily fit another unit next to it giving me 8x54w i just wondered if you think it would work and what combination of bulbs would people go for ?
Thanks
Dean :)
For Fish Only This Will Be Ok.

You could keep a few softies and mushies with the 4 by 54watt t5's.If you go for 8 then your looking at lps and maybe even a few sps at the top of your rockwork. With four tubes id go 3 10k and an actinic to get the best out of it.
I used to have 2 luminaires (8x54w) over my 4x2x2 and kept clams and sps without a problem.
I have tried a lot of different tube combinations but found that 2 actinics and 6 white tubes worked well.
However i have recently swap my arcadia luminaires for D&D megatwin units with individual gullwing reflectors. These appear to give off more light, or at least direct the light better. Also the heat build up is no where near as bad as with the luminiares.
