View Full Version : advice on nems
hi i am upgrading my rio 240 to an 8x2x2 very soon,i have a pair of clowns and would like to give them a nem to host in ,i dont want a bta as k nowing my luck it will have a wanderlust and sting all my softies so i was wondering which nem would be the best substitute(i know this is a begginer level question) but i want to be really sure before i buy a non hosting/unsuitable nem.thanks and be gentle with me im delicate lol
Most nems will be prone to wandering until they find an area in the tank that meets their needs, flow, light etc, all sting and will sting, then there is the sticky situation of youe clowns.. what kind are they, are they captive bred, will you be gutted if you shell out for a nem and your clowns dont host it...
hi ickypimp the clowns are just the run of the mill nemos can think of the proper name at the minute, and no i wont be devastated if the clowns dont host in it just want a decent nem and if clowns host YIPPEE if not i still got a nice nem :D

Amphiprion ocellaris?
I think you need to go and do alot of reading , decide what you want to keep, decide if you think your tank is appropriate chemically and equipment (light, flow etc)wise...
you could always get some glass nems :p , if you manage to kill them i bet theres loads of peps would want to know the secret :)

unless your tank has matured for at leased 6- 12 months dont purchase an anemone, because they need stable water conditions and the correct lighting.if you dont want a bta the only one i would sugest would be heteractis crispa.this anemone rquires metal halide lighting,a steady water flow and once settled does not wander around your tank.the one i have is situated directly under a 400w metal halide and is over 2ft across.derek
