hello all

thinking about making the move over to sps and as ma 16th b day pressie im going to kit it out properly

as i know flow and lighting are amoung the most important factors i am going to put most of the money to them

for flow i alredy have a tunze 6000 and i have just won a wavy sea on RP :) so should i have to add to this?

for lighting i have a little diagram below

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c148/f-i-s-h-b-o-y-1-2-3/bulbarrrangementfornewtank-1.jpg

the tank is a jewel rio 180, so something like 40L x 18W x 16H and the black box is the skimmer a mce 500

there will be no actinic  but i am using the aqua blue tubes that are a 60/40 mix IIRC

the power compact bulbs will be asl 50/50

also all the bulbs will have induvidual d & d gull wing reflectors

and before anyone asks halide are out because i do not like the look of things hanging down from the ceiling

so will this do?

thanks everyone in advance

steve

p.s sorry for the post being so long but i wanted to get everything across, just want to make sure this will be a good home for sps

I think that will do, specially with the individual reflectors.

For the price of the tubes and reflectors etc it might be worth getting a an arcadia luminaire, there was one in the sales section not long ago. I have a rio 180, before I had a lumaire I found that with the tank got too hot and the bulbs got salt creep on them that needed cleaning everynight.

also the aquablues are a bit yellow, if you can handle it then thats fine but I need to have some blue tubes or the tank looks bad.

Thats cool then :) , you will get more light from running the tubes with indicidual refectors but my tank just got too hot, the water went over 30c last september on a mild day It was a new tank but if I still had an enclosed hood this summer with those temps all my corals would have bleached out.

oh not good

so im going to have to have a little think about the hood

i suppose i could go open topped with a fan on one of them reptile cool controllers, failing that cooler - no biggie

You try and incorporate some pc fans into the hood but It doesnt look like there will be enough room with all the tubes, just thinking of solutions for you maybe if you just had 1 powercompact or even just the T5's?

its one of them things i will have to try really

open topped will be no problem, a few fans here and there will also be no problem
