if you have 3 plug bars and an item on one of them trips the RCB on the socket powering that bar do the other bars (if ppluged into SEPERATE RCB protected sockets) also go down?

just wondering if you can spread critical functions over different bars to protect against a faulty item tripping out the whole lot.

Good question, i'd say that if all plugbars run through the same RCD then yes all will fail, but if run through different supplies and seperate rcd's probably not ?????

Not sure if tronica is your kettle of fish tiggsy as mine is louder than my perc90!!!

i plan to run them through seperate RCD protected sockets....as for noise... dont worry, NOTHING electrical will be in the same room as the tank (apart from the halide but even that will have the ballast mounted in the sump room)

All pumps, skimmers, etc, etc (anything that needs power and makes noise) will be in the sump room - even the closed loop will leave the lounge to get pumped back from the sump room.

Means i will have a tank circulated by 2 6500's and 2 sequence 10,000 plus a 6ft skimmer yet it will run silent :D

Hi Tiggsy,

Set up a five plug bar system not so long ago, connected all the usb's together so the bars were in a long chain, furthest bar was about 20m from the controller.

When I plugged the controller in only the furthest bar and one nearest controller had any power, but the controller picked them both up and the probes connected to the furthest(none connected to the first).

As we powered up the middle bars the controller saw each one in turn, so, in this case, one of the middle bars could have tripped out an RCD and the others would still be working.

Alternatively, you can wire them up of a single bar, 6 USB cables and plug bars from one central bar if you like.

cool - so in simple terms if i'm running dual return pumps i can mount one on each bar and if one blows and trips the bar the other bar (on a seperate RCD) will keep on pumping - yet i assume i can have a single programe that deals with both pumps ie- tank overflowing...STOP pumping!
