What are your parameters? Calc, alk, phos, nitrate
calc-430
phos-just a trace
nitrate-30 had a fish death n couldnt find it
sg-1.24
temp-28c
I'm no expert but 30ppm is high for SPS, you need to aim for 5 or less as for Phophate I don't think this would kill the SPS just stop their growth. Unfortunately once they start to lose there flesh there is not much you can do. Do you have any friends that could look after them until you get your tank right?

Whats phos just a trace anything over 0.03 is not going to help I suspect with nirate being taht high phophate is also to high.
Also whats Alk?
I agree with danny nirate levels need to brought down before sps go in system.
phos is 0.25
alk is 80mg
i have done 2 water changes thro wk n will do another 2moro.
danny- no i dont know any1 where i live that has a tank!

Theres your problem phosphate 0.25 is way too high it will kill your sps take them to someone local who look after them for you untill you sort that out.
Do you run a phospahte remover?
sorry i meant 0.025
yes iv got rowa phos changed bout a month ago.

acording to your sig ur using pc'z .......... bloomin ekk .....
sps under pc'z would be like nemz under t8'z
30ppm nitrate, thats shockin. Why would you even think about introducing any sps corals with levels like that?
Crazy man! ;)

FWIW my nitrate is usually around 20 to 40 mark and have sps that are doing fine, yes they may not grow as fast as I would like but they are still growing

FWIW, there are loads of tanks running SPS under T5.s and quite a few under t5 compacts. This isnt an issue as long as theres enough of them.
As for N03 this isnt so much an issue as other perameters where SPS are concerned. (take a look at Septembers tank of the month...and note the No3 reading). Not ideal, but far from lethal.
Would tend to agree with Si, that Po4 is way above acceptable levels, Id also be inclined to get temperature down a tad if possible to around the 26 mark.
All in all id say some house cleaning was in order, maybe by way of some water changes and a reduction in bioload or increase in skimmer capacity if your still struggling. All in all, SPS require just that extra bit of stability and cleaner conditions compared to alot of other corals, so take your time, get things nearer NSW conditions before adding any more frags and you should get on fine.

sorry my bad :( :( I dont know alot about sps i just know i wouldnt even attempt it without ultra stabile water params / MH'z / constant calcium addition / zero phosphates / <10 nitrate :( :(
Ahh maybe one day
thanx every1 am in the mid of doin a 25% water change at mo so hopefully that will help the nitrates. just bought more rowa just in case other is not workin rite.
hopin to nip n get a wee fan to try get temp down to see if that will help.

hi
i done a 30% water change nitrate now down to 5 so goona do another in acouple of days to hopefully get rid of it.
was lookin in the reef section n saw a thread bout a heat controller.
would that be any gd of gettin my temp down?
cheers
sarah
might be worth checking your mg level as well.

If possible add a few clams as they will help with the nitrate levels. My nitrates are 25ppm and im keeping lots of sps with no problems.

You need a lot of clams to make a dent in high nitrates.
