Hello all, i have read on some forums that when a leather is returning from being closed down it sheds a skin like material and can also tilt to one side to clear any build up from the polys is this correct.
yes, leather corals will shed a 'mucus' layer everynow and then. the coral will close all polyps, turn a nasty bluey/grey colour and shed slime. over a couple of says it should start to pick up, slowly getting its colour back and eventually inflating to its former glory.
as a matter of course i tend to run extra carbon when this happens, just to get rid of anything i don't want that is shed as well.
welcome to UltimateReef by the way :)
