View Full Version : new nano
missus wanted to get rid of my son's 3ft tank as she thinks it's too big for his room.
so she decided that a nano would be ideal:) .( great i think, time to make plans)
so she comes back with this 13g / 60litre HEXAGON:confused:  .
ideal for the corner she says.
her orders to me /plans for tank are no skimmer, no sump????she wants the tank to stay the same. nothing hanging out of the tank etc etc.
well here we are water from main tank down stairs and running for 4 weeks

ahahah
theres no such thing as too big.
check out my tank, that sat in my bedroom. Boy does my mum dislike it :)
and ill be adding a nano too it too :)
if it was up to me then i would incorporate a sump. def need to upgrade the lighting as it only comes with an 11watt pc.
stock will be 2 percula clownfish and a yellow goby from the 3 footer.
obviously depending on the light upgrade that will determin the corals.
most likely shrooms zoo's maybe the odd lps.
1 problem already identified is the heat from the lights, missus wants the hood to stay as is.
painting the back panel today and adding live rock.
will post more pics later.

upgraded the lighting as the 11w pc that came with it was more for tropicals and goldfish.gave off a yellow light, plus it looked naff.
have in there now a 24watt interpet daylight blue, plus put in a reflector.
looks 10 times better. have enough room to add another at a later date.

looks a hell of alot better with the daylight!
any update on the back?
Keep em comming
Forgive me for saying about the sump, but could you get a cheeky one in on one of the shelves? Get a custom made tank to fit exactly, and paint the front black and see if the other half notices any time soon :D
Regarding the PC bulbs, how hot do they run? I'm starting to plan the creation of my lighting/hood/luminaire on my tank, but I've never used PC's before and am unsure on how much heat they generate / materials to use!
looking good mate, dont suppose you found my shrimps then :o

unfortunately the missus has put the restraints on this, i could argue till i'm blue in the face:mad: .
yes you can mod the stand and bulid a sump which was going to be the original idea.like the idea of a painted front sump but my missus has eyes like a hawk;)
the pc's run quite hot, no different to normal flouresents or t5's.
At the moment the tank temp varies between 26 and 27 degrees and that is with just 1x 24watt.
