View Full Version : RS232 to USB Cable
Anyone know where I would be able to get one today, is it the sort of thing PC World (Thieves) sell???
Made sometime today to finally update my Aquatronica, got the lap top out and all the software / cables etc and then realised I needed another cable, stupidly i thought I had everything required.
Aquatronica do one but the shops I have tried either don't have one in stock or are closed today!
Thanks in advance
is there a maplin near you, they have this, http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=29968&criteria=RS232%20to%20USB%20Cable&doy=25m9

What is the problem? I take it you dont have a usb on your computer and you want to use the rs232 port instead. There are loads of cables out there that go from usb to rs232 but i am not quite sure as to the other way.Cant you just install a usb card in your pc? or are you tring to use a laptop. Try RS Components. I found that i could not get a usb-rs232 lead from pc world and in the end i bought one from RS.

Just to clarify, I have a usb cable to go from the plug bar to PC interface, the cable from the PC interface is this serial 9 pin RS232 thing. My laptop does not have this 9 point socket on.
My PC does but that is upstairs.
So I needed to get the cable to run from the 9 point connector on the interface to the USB ports on my laptop.
In the end tried a few localish shops and got lucky at one who had the said cable for fifteen quid.
they should dump the RS232 thing really - USB everywhere then they stick that on it.......be interested why?
American market is my guess, USB never has caught on over there.
sockets too small for their chubby fingers?
Especially when a Super Size Big Mac is in the other hand
if the big mac is in one hand and the cable is in the other.......whos holding the rifle?????
