Hi All

It's a long story but the point is I have managed to get whitespot into my system again.

I am planning on removing all fish to treat with hyposalinity and leaving the main tank fallow again.

My original quarantine tank is 100 litres which is not big enough for all my fish - 6" Regal Tang, 2" Naso tang, 3" blenny and two 1" clowns. I have now bought a 180 litre tank. I have got an external filter capable of filtering 500 litres and an internal capable of 130 litres.

The question is can all the fish go in the 180 litre tank together with both the external and internal filter running or should I seperate the fish into the 2 seperate tanks, running the external on the larger tank and the internal on the smaller? Obviously the first option is the easiest.

Thanks

Millie

They will be fine in there for the length of hyposalinity treatment no problem in my opinion. Providing a few hiding places will prevent the fish from getting stressed out.

Can I ask why you are deciding to do a hyposalinity treatment over other methods?

Yes I'd ask the same question, in a QT tank copper will be more effective and provide a cure much faster

Sounds like you've had problems with white spot before, on a previous thread you mention your Regal Tang having it, is the Regal the main problem again. I had the same problem with my Regal over about 8 months at times it would spread to my other Tangs, I reluctantly sold my Regal to my LFS and since then no more white spot.

Hi

I was planning on hyposalinity as I feel more confident doing that than using copper. After removing all fish (blenny and clowns) before from the tank and leaving it fallow for 6 weeks everything was okay. My husband bought me the Naso and Regal and they went in the QT tank but the Regal was too big for the tank. The shop they came from had been running their salinity at 1.015 and low levels of copper so stupidly I took the risk and added them to the main tank. Now I am back to square 1 again. The Regal has spots which were quite bad, but they are imrpoving now, the blenny is rubbing on the rocks. I feel that if I don't sort this now I will always have problems in the future. Nothing else will enter the tank without a proper QT period anymore.

Thanks

Millie
