View Full Version : Suitable holding vats
are fibreglass vats safe i am sure i have read they are not but then see people in the states using them with no problems ??
Don't see why not as the gel coating should seal it well, like koi vats and garden centre fish vats. I borrowed one when I moved my tank and it worked very well as I was able to plumb my sump up to it.

anyone know for sure, may have one to use as a sump for my frag trays but need to be 100% sure :D

been reading yours and tbh its what made me think of using this vat, but tbh you have got any really delicate corals in there yet so i am still wary
and the tank is young but i really do hope its safe it could make life nice and easy :D

I've seen it done a few times. I don't see why there would be any problems as long as they are made well.

I used to work with Laminators, and I've also consulted Aqualogistix about this and as long as you leave the fibreglass for 6 weeks to leach out chemicals/toxins its fine.
Hope this helps.
I will soon be building some myself.
