My Blue throat trigger seems to have developed cotton wool like growths around his mouth, I am sure he isn't auditioning for father christmas roles so I can only assume it is mouth fungus.

Params....

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 25
Phosphates 0.015

Working on the nitrate but having problems with phosphates. I recently reduced the amount I am feeding as the only explanation for phosphates but fearing I am still feeding too much, one cube in the morning followed by one cube in the evening throughout the night.

Blue throat is very shy and is the latest addition to my tank (2 weeks) but all tank mates relatively peacful...

5x2x2
2 clowns
5 chromis
1 blue spotted wrasse
1 purple fire fish
1 red spotted goby
1 blue throat trigger

On reading about mouth fungus I gather it can be caused by poor water conditions or stress.

I moved some rock around last night, roughly 6 peices which took me no more than 30 minutes, could this have caused it?

There is no way I will be able to catch this fella for treatment as he is shy at the best of times, he is eating well.

Any suggestions? Cut back the food further?

All other fish appear fine.

Any help gratefully recieved.

Chris

External fungal infections in marine fish are very rare, it may well be something else such as lympocystis any chance of a photo ?
