Hi

As a newby to SPS I want to ensure that I acclimatise the corals correctly in my latest tank. I'm talking mainly acros and montis (frags to start). Having sumped them for about 6 hours to get temperature and salinity sorted I have put my frags on the bottom of the tank. I intend, as advised, to raise them weekly about three inches until they get to the final spot. The tank is 27" water depth and 4 x 400 watt lighting in an 8 ft tank. Is this too fast/slow?

Hoping to get as many opinions as possible to give some peace of mind.

Depends on where the colonies/frags come from.

If they are normally under strong lighting then I don't bother leaving them at the bottom, such as frags from fishmans or reefworks.

If they are mari-cultured (or aqua-cultured not too sure which is hitting the streets at the moment), then I have been leaving them on the bottom of the tank for 1-2 weeks then raising them. I normally put them straight in their final place.

I left my lights on the high side and once I had purhased most of my frags, I started lowering the lights.

But I only have 250W 10K, I imagine that with 400W you have to be more carefull.
