Need a bit more info, I'm afraid.
A photo would help identify it, for a start.
How long have you had it? Has it been okay up until now? What's changed recently to cause it to unattach?
When you say it's gone "walk about", that's not really the case - they are capable of moving their "foot" across the rockwork in order to relocate - I don't think letting go of the rockwork completely is a good sign.

Why are you trying to place it? Leave it well alone and it will find a place it is happy with.

the worst thing you can do is move an anemone unless its in serious dander ie near powerheads the best thing you can do it leave it alone and just let it find its own place there nothing you can do it will go where it wants to go

when you say it wint attach... is it floating around ?? is it the right wat round or upside down... does it still feel sticky to the touch, what are your whater params and lighting ..flow etc

I am afraid it sounds like you have bought a bleached nem, you need to keep a close eye on it, if it pegs it then it could easily take your tank down with it

Cream with purple tips: Sounds like a malu.

As above we need a bit more info. Generally Malus require very strong lighting (MH) and prefere to be either near the bottom attatched to a rock thats in the sand (they will commonly dig the foot down under a rock till they get to the bottom of the tank) or they will go completely the opposite way and climb the side and sit just under the brace bar right under the light.

Either way, avoid moving it around. as allready stated they will find thier own place.

have you got a picture of it or try and find out from where you bought it from and what specie it is.if it is a heteractis magnifica the base colour is usually red, pink or orange and if it is one of these you would need metal halide lighting of at least 250 w.if the anemone is not sticky to the touch their is usually something wrong with them, they dont seem to want to settle anywere in the tank and just wither away.i have kept dozens of anemones and most of them will attach themselves to a rock within a very short period of time.i usually hold mine on a sheltered rock for a few minutes and see if they will attach themselves, most of them do,and if they are not happy with the light or water flow they will move.derek
