Even A nano tank isnt cheap you will need

Tank
light
powerheads
liverock
reef sand
an ro system
test kits
marine salt
refractometer or an accurate hydrometre

probably will cost around £400plus

Best thing to do is read a book or 2 and read as much as you can on here, read about other peoples nano tanks and then you can pick up tips etc.

A nanio tank can be as expensive or cheap as you want it!

I saw a via aqua 418w for sale for £65 on ebay! That comes with 218w lights which will be ok for softies. I have seen the D&D nano and think they are a right ripoff but thats my opinion.

What you need is:

1. RO Unit - £60
2. Tank - £25
3. Lights - can get silly here but t5 or powercompacts will do depending on what you keep.
4. Powerheads - Ebay £10
5. Live sand + rock - 12 per kilo
6. Testing kits and salt.

So really looking at it not much.

Would not bother with a skimmer ect no need just as you said do frequesnt water cahnges and you are away!
