Well i like the rest it seems have fallen for a nano i was taken with the one on the desk at the STM meet and came home with a 30 ltr wave nano i went for the classical shape tank and not the cube and for £110 i came home with 3kgs of stmLR & 2kg of live sand the tank an 18w marine lamp and two hang on the back filters (must say what a bargin), the first thing i did with the filters was remove all the gubbin and fill them with cheto from my sump as you can see from the photos.

After filling with fresh made water and filled i added 1kg more live rock from my main tank added a 50w heater and set it running on saturday night, i have been testing and so far have no trace of amm nitrate nitrate or po4, if the tank stays this way i will add the clowns at some point over the weekend, i have already got the shrimp pair they are in my main tanks sump but will be added also at the wekend, so far i have one turbo snail added last night and some blue spounge and a sps frag from my main tank to see how things go, so far so good everything looks well setteled and the sps frag has polyps extended.

As in my main tank the live rock to be most of filtration and the cheto to aid in the removal of any leftover n03, the cheto is lit by a 50w desk top lamp from ikea, the plan is to do weekly water changes with water from my main tank wher the prams are stable and i do monthly water changes, i may change this to fresh water but at the mo dont see why i shouldnt use my display tanks water, top up will be manual with ro on as needs be basis.

Stocking for the tank is planned as a pair of tmc clowns, a pair of harlequin shrimps some rics and zoos all the bright colourfull sml things and maybe some monti digis but add a second 18w light when the are in stock to get the lighting up to standard for sps over the long term but ill see how the frag gos compaired to thoughs on the main tank.

Well let me know what you think

Thanks

Matt

mmm lots of potential there, like the chaeto idea, i was just going to run carbon and rowa in mine, when i get round to getting it.

fits well on the drawers? there, purpose bought :D :D

how are you gonna feed the harlequins?

GOTAREEFTOKEEP

They are feeding on asterina starfish at the mo so going to harvest them from my main tank for them plus side gives me a reason to fish them out of my main tank as i had kinda stopped.

thats a very nice little setup, did the condensation tray come with the tank or did you add it?

GOTAREEFTOKEEP

Just an alround bargin, only thing i would add is i had to pay extra for the second fillter and would advise the same to anyone else as it the only form of water movement, i'm comsidering adding a third for a rowa carbon bag in the future, with the plus of a bit of extra water movement.

they come in many sizes too. think this rectangle is the biggest, i think i'm gonna get the smaller cube.

mmm, looks like you could use one of those filters as an overflow to a sump

any ideas about stands folks?

SCOOB

think you'll be hard pushed to find a stand for it, even the biggest wave cubo here will sit snugly on your average desk. best bet is to make one to sit on a piece of furniture. a stand for just the tank at a viewable height will be so thin it would be more than unstable.

Yeah suppose mate, bit stuck for furniture in my front room though, and the mrs wont let me have it on the glass coffee table lol!

mantle piece, sideboard, desk, coffee table, shelf, bookcase, cabinet, a safe window sill, or my personal faourite.......above a door so when someone walks in and opens it :D :D :D costs more than a bucket mind.
