whats this friend or foe ?

i brought a piece of living rock the other day and lots of what look like
mini green bubble tip anemones there is about 20 of them they are quick short and dumpy , with short dumpy feels and a mouth and them are about 10mm in diameter and growing
do you no what they might be ?

Most likely Majano - take the rock back to the lfs and tell them it's full of pests

why are they a pest ? whats dothey do ?

there the same as aptasia but look different they breed like mad , sting corals fish and can also kill from there sting, they look pretty but not when they over run your tank

Ive just spent 2 bloody weeks getting them out of me tank boy there a pain. And the thing what really gets on me wick is everyday i look in my tank i find more babies in there. I found chem-marin stop aiptasia works a treat once you spot em.

if its majano just use joes juice cleared my problem in seconds but still keep eye out if u have them they still tend to re appear

sounds like majano anemones they just as bad as aptasia and a nuisance to get rid of.if you have no corals in your tank a couple of butterfly fish will clean them off in couple of days or a thick solution of calcium hydroxide squirted over them will get rid of them.derek

my emperor angel polished off an infestation of magano's in my tank , and now he's ever so podgy :) , now i waiting for him to clear the clavularia
