Hi Si
The second category is quite a range. There are many tank sizes between 25 and 100 gallons on the market, and a 100 gallon tank is noticeably different from a 25 gallon.
It would be interesting to see this category further sudivided.
Best wishes ... Fizz

Hi fizz, I know there are sub devisions between 25 and 100, but i was trying to remain moderately realistic. sub 25 are considerd nanos, over 25 up to 100 are your average off the shelf systems (around 4ft), with 100-200 being your 5-6ft (including sump etc.

Si.

PS: you might notice my name in the 201-300 bracket, I voted wrong, mine should be in the 301-400 bracket hence the missing vote....

When I voted I could have sworn the poll was in litres or perhaps I was still half asleep, anyway my vote is incorrect :)

mine should be in the 301-400 bracket

I don't think my house is 400 gallons!

Is this a home based system, or is it in a shop/place of work etc?

Best wishes ... Fizz

it would be nice if some of the tanks listed actually still existed, or had been 'baptised' (let alone proved) before being included!

System age would be an interesting poll.

System age would be an interesting poll.

And the owners................and maybe their annual salary

Is this maximum volume in terms of tank sizes and dimensions or estimated volume taking into account water levels and displacement with rock?

I voted with my estimated volume but thinking I should've voted with the maximum - in which case I should've voted 401-500 gallons. :)

dont see what relevance salary has to do with it to be honest.

Tank size isnt an indicator of wealth ime.

Its more an indicator of obsession to be honest, and in my case, a tad of financial stupidity thrown in for good measure.....:D

On a serious note though. its very often the case that large tank owners are treated as stuck up 'gotta have it all types' by a certain % of the fishkeeping comunity when it couldnt be further from the truth. Many of these owners are on the same incomes as the rest of us mear mortals but just find ways and means beyond simple disposable income to fund the projects, Loans, deals, selling the Bike, etc etc.

Personnaly i dont think someones financial possition has any baring on wether they are a good aquarist or not.

Ps: like the idea of an 'Age of system' Poll :D

Its up to you to be honest, im thinking more along the lines of total 'gross' volume to be honest. Appreciated LR quantity etc will have a large baring on the 'net', but the idea behind this post was to see what sort of 'size' systems are running rather than tieing it in with methodology.

Si.

Ps: like the idea of an 'Age of system' Poll :D

go ahead and do it if you want Si - I couldn't work out how to.

I guess upgrades would have to be taken into account somehow....

the idea behind this post was to see what sort of 'size' systems are running

;) so that would mean tanks that hadn't previously existed or yet come into being...

It was a bit tongue in cheek, Si...........especially since I wouldn't want all the world to know my 'ins and outs'.

Interesting that you use the word obsession tho'. Its a word I constantly have thrown at me by my partner.....but I don't see it any worse than owning , say, a pony or a couple of dogs or a sportscar.

Oh, its deffinately an obsession allright....why the hell else would i be sitting here at 3.00am most mornings talking to people i dont even know...:o

I think there may be a clinical condition related here......I wonder if i can sue UR for damages to my mental health and giving me a compulsive/obsessive dissorder.

Hell, the money would fund a larger reef...:D
