Ok i have a foxface that i have had since July an it is eating like a pig loves the nori. He has double in size in only 4 months its now 4.5 inch but it has slightly cloudy eyes. Now i have been told a couple of different things 1 that it could be high nitrates or a water quality issue this was my first investigation and have had no problems with test readings.
PH 8.2, SG 1.025, Am 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate below 5, Calc 460, KH 7-8.

So i cant see a problem there

The next thing i was told was possibly fighting with my Brown Tang but there is and never has been that i have seen any agression at all from the Tang.

So my question is what could be causing it?

Are they very cloudy or have they just got a blueish haze over them when at certain angles?

If it's intermittent then it's normal. I was concerned about mine for a while.

my foxface never has completely clear eyes, there is always a cloudy look to them from certain angles so I wouldn`t worry too much about it mate, I think it is just a trait of the species

My Rabbitfish is the same,in certain light, eyes appear milky.I've been told this is normal for the species & in the 6 months i have had him, never had problems.Whenever i go to lfs,i always check & all the Rabbitfish seem to be the same so i wouldn't worry.

high nitrate can cause cloudy eyes especially in angels.are they a very milky colour or just slightly cloudy.some fish tend to look a bit discoloured but are ok,check your water quality first and just keep an eye on them.derek
