ABOUT METH BLUE

The properties of the drug as an oxygen transporter (it converts methemoglobin to the normal oxygen carrying component of fish blood, hemoglobin) allow it to be used in the treatment of known cyanide and nitrite poisoning of aquarium fishes. It has been suggested that newly arrived marine fish placed in Methylene Blue can have their survival rate increased as Methylene Blue aids in the reversal of nitrite and/or cyanide poisoning.

Where has this information come from? If you're quoting someone else's work you really should credit them.

The properties of the drug as an oxygen transporter

For the sake of correctness Methylene blue isn't an oxygen transporter nor does it convert methemoglobin (induced by nitrates as part of normal anti-cyanide therapy) back to heamoaglobin (the enzyme methemoglobin reductase does that). Yes there is some evidence that it can bind free cyanide prior to it binding to cytochrome c oxidase (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cytochrome_c_oxidase) but it isn't a first line anticyanide drug that is usually amyl or sodium nitrate, hydroxycobalamin or sodium thiosulphate.

So no bias in that information if it is from a commercial site?
