Hi there, finally got myself a small BTA last week after nem-proofing the tank. Only about 3inch in size. Was in a LFS under 1XT5 36w now under 6x80w. Since introducing him 3 days ago he has moved into a cave with little in the way of light. It is impossible to feed him in his present position, although the pair of Clarkiis may be taking stuff to him. My instinct is to leave him be, if he wants to come out he will, just wondered how long people would wait? Don,t want to go diving in and dismantle the reef with the obvious risk to him and other stock. Any advice?
Thanks
Mark

Leave him where he is, as that is where he wants to be at the moment. Trying to move him will only stress him even more than his incredible journey to your little ocean already has.

Too many people try and place a Nem where they want him... well they are not pieces of rock or coral, they are living moving animals that can move to where they wish to be.

I have one Nem who is attached to the underside of one cave and extends out every day. Another one of my nems is situated at the back of the tank and after many weeks is finally showing its self during the day.

Please be patient and wait, hopefully he will make you proud to be in this hobby.

Yes confirms my thoughts entirely.Notice in your signature that you have tunze streams, have you nem-proofed these and if so what did you use

thanks

I agree - my bubble tip decided around 4 - 5 months ago to dive under the rockwork. Only recently has it started to re-appear, and I am now pretty sure that there is at least one more under the rocks - so just leave it, keep the water perfect, and it'll adjust and come out eventually - but for sure not where you want it to!

i think lighting is a big factor its amazing how many non specialist shops keep them under low light

anemones need to get adjusted to different light levels, yours has come from a low level of light to a brightly lit tank.give it time to adjust and if everthing else is okay it should come out when its ready.derek
